Training for Trainers: Opioid Overdose Prevention & Response Training in Truckee & Nevada City

What: Nevada County Public Health is hosting another Training for Trainers to support local Narcan distributors and service providers in their efforts. Free breakfast and lunch will be provided! We’ll be doing in-depth training on how to train other people to use Narcan and fentanyl test strips. We hope to ensure distributors and folks in the community who are training others on Narcan and fentanyl test strips have all their questions answered and are familiar with some of the key points on teaching others. All opioid overdose prevention questions are welcome! 

Become trained to teach:

  • The background & causes of opioid overdoses
  • The signs & symptoms of opioid overdoses
  • How to use naloxone
  • About fentanyl test strips
  • About opioid overdose prevention resources in our community

When and where:

  • Truckee: Friday, April 25th @ Sierra College Tahoe-Truckee Campus (11001 College Trail), 9am – 4pm.
  • Nevada City: Thursday, May 1st @ Madelyn Helling Library (980 Helling Way), 9am – 4pm.

What: In observance of International Overdose Awareness Day on August 31, Nevada County Public Health and the Know Overdose Nevada County Coalition present a FREE virtual community training on opioid overdose prevention and how to use Narcan. Learn about:

  • Opioids and fentanyl
  • Data about the opioid crisis
  • Strategies for preventing an overdose
  • Naloxone/Narcan and how to use it

When: Friday, August 30 from 12:00pm – 1:00pm or 5:00pm – 6:00pm via Zoom
